Survey of Allergens in Bakery Products
The aim of the survey was to determine if bakery products contained one or more specified allergens.
Pre-packed foods were then assessed for compliance with the new labelling requirements for intentional ingredients and also voluntary warnings which might be given for allergens as adventitious contaminants.
Foods which are either not pre-packed, or are prepacked for direct sale, are outside the scope of compulsory allergen labelling rules. Note was however taken of any information given voluntarily at the point of sale.
