Children's Meals Sold in Pubs and Restaurants 2007
The purpose of this survey was to gather information on the nutritional content of meals specifically prepared for children and offered in pubs and restaurants.
It is accepted that 'eating out' has, for most, been an occasional treat that should not have a major impact on the diet as a whole. However, it is becoming a more regular a part of family life, and it was considered that acquiring these data now would be instructive in assessing the extent to which the healthy eating initiatives being promulgated by the Food Standards Agency are being taken on board by the general public.
If the public's eating habits are changing, by for example, preferring less salt in their food, this will presumably be reflected in their choice of meals. It is assumed that this, in turn, will be reflected in the meals offered by the pubs and restaurant chains.
